Zimbabwe and its Animals
(2008-04-30)

The Zimbabwe National SPCA and the SPCA movement in Zimbabwe are non-political. They will not be drawn into politics, political arguments or political disputes. They will not be used for any purpose other than their primary functions: - the welfare of animals and prevention of cruelty to animals.

The ZNSPCA completely apolitical and is supported by the National Council of SPCAS (NSPCA) on behalf of the SPCA movement in South Africa. We recognise their dedication.

Reports relating to Friedawell Farm, north of Harare have circulated in our media. We advise that by consent of the police commissioner’s office, the Zimbabwe National SPCA now has access to the farm. Two inspectors are camping at the farm, ensuring that the animals are fed on a daily basis. Appreciation is expressed to the authorities for enabling access to be granted.

Please go to www.nspca.co.za and look at ZIMHELP. We are doing what we can and if this means going out to the public and brazenly asking for funds to assist, we shall do so with as much enthusiasm as we can muster. If ever there were “innocents” it is the animals in Zimbabwe who have already been through enough and who now face the kind of situation that even to us not too long ago would be unimaginable.

Contact details for Glynis Vaughan, Chief Inspector of the Zimbabwe National SPCA 00 263 912 367 260.
